Environmental Policy

The Nives Guesthouse is placed in an environment of high historical, cultural and environmental value. Recognizing its responsibility towards the environment and society, it is commited to reducing its environmental footprint through actions and initiatives that are consistent with national and European environmental legislation.


The company's environmental policy of the company focuses on the following priorities:


  • Compliance with the rules and best practices regarding environmental activities.
  • Proper management of energy resources, reduction of energy and water consumption, reduction of CO2 emissions and improvement of environmental
    performance.
  • Evaluation of the environmental impacts of our activities, with the aim of reducing or eliminating negative consequences.
  • Environmental training and information for staff.
  • Encouraging the active participation of staff and visitors in the environmental management of the company.
  • Annual evaluation and review of the environmental policy.
  • Supporting the local economy through the use of local products and partnerships.


To achieve these objectives, the company has implemented the following actions:

  • Replacement of lamps with energy efficient lamps LED.
  • Using high energy class electrical and electronic appliances (A’ or higher).
  • Adjustment of thermostats to optimal temperatures according to the season.
  • Reduction of water consumption through:
  • Changing bed linen every other day or replacing them exclusively at the request of our guests.
  • Using dual-function toilet (wc).
  • Choosing equipment that saves water.


  • Using only certified biodegradable toilet paper in bathrooms and shared
    WCs.
  • Placing signs for the rational use of water.
  • Regular inspection and maintenance of equipment to avoid leaks and improve efficiency.
  • Refrigerators in rooms with a consumption lower than 1 kWh/day.
  • Installation of waste separation bins and promotion of recycling.
  • Use of biodegradable and ecological cleaning products.
  • Selection of cosmetics in dispenser packaging to reduce waste.
  • Repair or maintenance of equipment and furniture instead of replacing them, whenever possible.
  • Training of staff on environmental management and sustainable tourism issues.
  • Informing visitors about the company's environmental policy.
  • Breakfast mainly from products from our orchard but also local/regional traditional products and recipes, strengthening the local economy.


Nives Guesthouse continues to invest in sustainability practices, maintaining its commitment to environmental protection and the promotion of sustainable tourism.


In this effort, we also need your contribution. Become part of our philosophy so that we can contribute together to a milder environmental footprint during your stay at our accommodation:

  • Inform the reception of the Guesthouse about the frequency with which you wish your sheets and towels to be changed.
  • Do not leave the water running in the bathroom and limit the duration of the shower.
  • When you leave the room, make sure to turn off the lights and electrical appliances.
  • Recycle everything that can be recycled.
